This basic computer education will have the potential to open various avenues of employment for them. One of the major problems crippling our nation is one of proper education. There are many offshoots of this issue -- unemployment, poverty to name a few.
This project focusses on the use of computer education to alleviate this issue. Intent of this initiative is to equip the participants with basic computer know-how. With these basic skills, they will be all set to take up courses that focus on the ways to earn livelihood through the use of IT. Given a booming IT industry, this project assumes even greater significance in terms of creating more job opportunities. The project is underway at two centres in Dhanbad and we plan to extend it to other locations in the future.
Achievement
- 140 students have been imparted computer education at 1st Center (LAHABANI, Dahiya) free of cost till date in three batches.
- 54 students are enrolled in current session in 9 batches, ensuring proper attention to each student at the 1st center.
- Study Material & Assignments are provided to the students for quality practice.
- Essay Competition & Painting Competition were organised for the students to engage them in other co-curricular activities.
- 2nd Center started on 14th February 2009 at Old Anganvadi. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Prof. R. Venugopal Sir. 21 students have been registered.
- Computer classes have been started on 14th February 2009 for the prisoners of Dhanbad Jail, in association with Mr. S K Barnwal Sir (ISM Alumni) Inspector-General of Prisons and Mr. Hamid Akhtar (Superintendent of Prisons, Dhanbad) , Govt. Of Jharkhand.
- From the next academic session we will register the students for the vocational courses of NIOS (National Institute of Open Schools) so that we can provide them a competitive platform for their study, provide a national level exam and a valid certificate.
- We are set to follow the syllabus of NIOS from next batch.
